Purpose:
Provide engineering support to develop and facilitate the production of new and/or improved diesel engine products or derivatives thereof. Work with others to resolve problems at customer, supplier or manufacturing sites related to the design of diesel or derivative engine components, systems or the functional behavior of the engine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Analyze moderately complex problems and job assignments in preparing project plans.
2. Product verification and validation.
3. Develop project plans.
4. Schedule time according to established job priorities.
5. Monitor work progress and resolves problems in order to ensure timely completion of projects.
6. Application experience with low pressure fuel supply systems on medium or heavy duty trucks.
7. Engine dyno or hydraulic bench application experience in the electronic calibration, mapping, and performance details of fuel injection systems.
8. Test cell and/or vehicle engineering experiences, including writing test instructions, acquiring data, analyzing and presenting results.
9. Fuel system troubleshooting and service and fault code tree structure, if not also OBD protocol.
10. Hardware and/or software failure analysis and problem resolution techniques and reporting procedures (ex: 8D)
11. Familiarity with product validation processes and planning, including variants of FMEA’s and tracking of design verification and validation progress.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide management with regular reports on project work plans and status for information and resource management purposes.
2. Maintain a neat workplace and organized information files pertaining to project work assignments.
3. Maintain daily record of work hours by job number for budgeting and auditing purposes per published instructions.
4. Perform special project.
Required Education and Experience:
* Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field
* At least 3- 5 years engineering experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Ability to work within a cross functional, cross discipline team, including supplier base.
* Domestic and International travel required
