Summary: Manages the New Product Development (NPD) execution group within the supply chain organization. Reports to the Director, Supply Planning.
Principal Accountabilities:
-Leads and directs the activities of 7 staff members in the Supply Chain NPD execution department. The NPD execution group is responsible for executing all supply chain activities on a new product development project starting after the sourcing decisions and ending after the project is launched. The key accountabilities of the NPD execution staff are:
-Issues tooling purchase orders to suppliers and manages the timely completion of the tools
-Manages the timely completion of PPAP approvals
-Issues production purchase orders and manages the timely delivery of production quality parts
-Sets up new product planning and purchasing data in ERP system
-Participates in cross-functional teams to achieve business case goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
-Analyzes all material flow and resolves constraints
-Predicts the ship date of all SKUs within the project
-Transitions parts to production buying groups after steady-state is achieved after product launch
-Assigns staff to NPD projects to achieve the approved product plan. It is expected that 40+ projects will be running concurrently.
-Provides training and development for employees
-Sets department goals and conducts performance reviews
-Approves purchase orders for tooling and new parts
-Sets priorities for department
-Writes standard work process documentation and insures department executes to the standards. Continuously improves processes to meet goals.
-Participates in cross-functional NPD stage-gate process improvements with peers in engineering, quality, marketing, manufacturing, etc
-Writes opportunity assessments and coordinates with IS department on any technology improvements to information systems
-Manages department budget
-Manages $5 million+ vendor tooling budget
Must Haves:
Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, MBA preferred
1-3 years cross functional new product development experience is required
-Prefer experience from production planning, purchasing, or engineering backgrounds
APICS or CPP/CPPM certification is preferred
Computer skills required: intermediate level expertise on MRP/ERP manufacturing systems for inventory management, purchasing, scheduling, or product data management; intermediate level use of MS Excel.
