Our client is seeking a Supply Chain Director who will possess significant project management experience and be able to manage and oversee all program related activities in the supply chain to include cost and schedule. This position requires both tactical and strategic thinking and planning.

Specific RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Manage the Material Planning and Control organizations. Create purchase orders and contracts that effectively communicate expected performance in quality and delivery to the statement of work and manages these contracts to the satisfaction of the program. Develop and skillfully execute a negotiation plan; Program related activities including:

Participating as a key member of bid and proposal teams including the development of strategies related to pricing and sourcing; Leading the program start-up planning effort including determination of optimum lot-sizes, synchronized major item delivery plan, leveraging spend; Support risk mitigation planning and development of lessons learned; Monitoring program execution to identify and lead resolution of any variances to plan; Support program meetings as required; Support external customer meetings and reviews as required; Coordinate Florence Operations "buyer-planner" activities with the DRS SSI Supply Chain Team.

Verifies accuracy of requisition, program requirements, and specifications. Make purchase decisions for products and services based on best overall value. Participates with engineering in developing statements of work, requests for quotation and proposal in a manner which is complete and clearly understood by suppliers. Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Required Qualifications:

BS or BA degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or Engineering required with a Masters Degree preferred; A minimum 2 years experience (non-government) and/or 15 years (government) purchasing. Ten (10) years experience (government subcontracting) including working with engineering to develop statements of work, developing sourcing plans, developing performance based contracts, negotiating terms and conditions and managing suppliers to contract performance.

CPM,CPSM, or APP Certification from ISM (formerly NAPM) required; CPIM Certification from APICs required; Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from a recognized program required; Excellent communication skills.

Additional Qualifications:

Contracts certification a plus; Judgment and decision making - considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one; Time Management; Negotiation; Ability to multi-task; Able to read and interpret documents such as procedure manual; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees; Must have good language diction; Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations; Working knowledge of Oracle ERP management system a plus.
