Job Listing: Comm Technician 1-3 (Winder, GA)

Under limited supervision the CommTech 1-3 performs routine cable television installations, disconnects, prewires, change of service, service calls, monitor for cable leakage and log, MDU wiring for residential and business customers, install PC hardware/software peripheral devices to connect residential customers to @Home service in accordance with Comcast procedures and practices. Major Duties: (May perform any or all of the following duties) -Perform installations adhering to Comcast procedures and safe work practices, NEC and NESC requirements, and local ordinances in order to provide services to the customer. -Perform installation of the @Home service to include Network Interface Card or USB adapter, perform full @Home and RF installations. -Review all requested services with the customer in order to ensure understanding and agreement. -Survey the installation route and review proposed route with the customer in order to obtain agreement on the location of cable outlet(s) -Perform work including but not limited to: reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects, additional outlets, changes of service, prewires, postwires, and custom installation work, for all levels of service. -Perform RF troubleshooting from the tap to the customer’s equipment. -Perform entry level troubleshooting for data. Perform cable leakage monitoring and log. -Clean, maintain and stock vehicle and equipment in order to be prepared to perform required duties. -Complete required paperwork in a timely manner. -Determine acceptability of service by reviewing picture quality following installation of cable service in order to provide the best possible service for the customer. -Provide customer with education in the proper use and functions of equipment and services. -Properly operate and maintain tools and equipment. -Report need for vehicle repair or service when required and/or prescribed. -Report any accidents, losses, injuries or property damage to supervisor and customer when appropriate. -Perform other duties as requested by supervisor in order to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

Required Skills

Education/Licenses/Certifications:
·High school diploma or equivalent
·Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record
Punctual, regular and consistent
attendance. Ability to work mandatory overtime.

Operational Competencies:
·Must be able to utilize tools and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and/or those identified by Comcast.
·Ability to use basic cable installation tools and hand tools
·Ability to perform job from high places (on poles and roofs)
·Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), various state and local codes including G.O. 95 and G.O. 128, (when applicable), and the policies and procedures for CATV installation activities
·Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints
·Knowledge of cable television products and services
·Knowledge of basic mathematics
·Ability to communicate with customers in a clear and straight forward manner
·Ability to work independently
·Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
