Position Summary:
Responsible for Engineering and Technology efforts within the Savannah system.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for directing and managing the construction, maintenance and monitoring of all Headend and product delivery equipment and system networks
• Function as the chief technical resource for engineering planning and decision-making as it relates to system architectural development and implementation and the development and deployment of new services and technology throughout the system
• Delivery of reliable and quality pictures to the subscriber base
• Manage and direct on-call procedures and responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with FCC and CLI requirements
• Manage and direct forward and reverse sweep systems
• Plan, track, and insure the completion of the Headend/hub preventative maintenance program. Prepare and keep current Headend/hub documentation.
• Analog and Digital controller maintenance
• Pay Per View / Video On Demand maintenance and equipment installation
• Assist in all aspects of integrating the new technologies within the Headend systems, back office, and other existing third party technologies
• Prepare Engineering budget and manage all expenditures and capital budgets associated with the development and maintenance of headends and primary transport (to operate within budget guidelines and assume responsibility for related the operating budget)
• Oversee all management of all digital communications from Headend to OTN, network design/architecture including ATM switching and OC 3 – OC 48, frame relay, ISDN, LAN / WAN design, implementation, support and maintenance, traffic design and modeling where applicable
• Communicate and coordinate with other departments all planned changes, maintenance, improvements and seek feedback to effectively handle internal and external customer concerns
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or the recognized equivalent in work experience, or a combination of work experience and education

Experience:
• Minimum seven years experience in a major market cable system operation or multiple location cable system operation and / or telecommunication service provider, including five years of managerial experience
• Highly organized and able to work independently with little supervision
• Flexible work hours to perform critical changes and support during non-peak hours
• Understanding of cable technical standards, including FCC part 76.605
• Knowledge of IP networking with experience in VoIP implementation
