Volt Technical Resources has a long-term contract position available for an Application Architect to work with a State Government Agency.
Job Description:
Our Client based in Atlanta, Georgia is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Application Architect. Reporting to the Manager of Development Services, the selected Lead Technician, Application Architect responsibilities include the integration and design of new application systems and/or life-cycle enhancement to existing complex multi-platform (J2EE or ASP.NET) Human Resource Systems.
Job Responsibilities:
The Application Architect:
Is responsible for determining the scope of the assigned project(s) by assessing requirements from business and technical/network personnel.
Is responsible for evaluation and selection of the appropriate technical platform for the system. Work will include:
Integration Planning
Integration Analysis across multiple technical platforms
Integration Analysis across DHR to include both Global System Design and detailed Program Design for complex processes or interfaces
Review of database design of new data structures
Suggested modifications to existing data structures
Effectively documents and teaches the structure and function of the new application and/or enhancements resulting from the assigned project(s) to other Web Application Managers and Senior Technical personnel, to insure that the new systems and/or enhancements operate smoothly.
Lead Staff members to develop common standards and procedures to insure the integrity and high quality of the following:
Data Optimization and Tuning
System Design and Programming
Component and System Optimization and Tuning
Database Design
The selected candidate's day-to-day activities will consist of:
20% Leadership
40% Design/Analysis
30% Coding
10% Help Desk Support
Candidate will be able to work with a diverse project team, in a highly visible and changing project environment with aggressive timelines.
This is an estimated 10-month contract position, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in Atlanta, GA. Required Skills
Required Skills for this Software System Engineer position include the following:
Completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Business Administration and/or related field from an accredited college or university
Extensive experience in large-scale Application Architecture, Design and Development, using major tools such as ASP.NET and/or J2EE Application Servers and Portal Architecture
4+ years of:
Design Concepts, i.e. Layered Architecture, Components, Interfaces, Messaging
Application Modeling using UML; specifically Class, Interaction, Sequence, Activity, and State Diagrams, and documenting deployment using Deployment Diagrams
Eight (8) years of Computer Programming and Analysis experience which includes using Web Services, XML, SOAP, Object Persistence Methodologies and Application Integration
8+ years of experience:
With full Project Lifecycle in implementing Web-based systems
In troubleshooting
7+ years:
Of Object-Oriented conceptual expertise; i.e. Classes, Inheritance, Encapsulation, and the tools used in their definition (UML, Use Cases)
Of Database/Data Access:
RDBMS (Oracle, DB2, SQL)
Tables
Triggers
Logical and Physical Modeling
Access Strategies and Tools
Concurrency Models
Extremely strong fundamentals and analytical abilities
7 + years:
Of experience using the following technologies:
.Net
ASP.Net
Java
Visual Basic C#
MS SQL Server 2000 in implementing web-based systems
Of experience with working knowledge of Software Releases, Versioning, Change Control and Source Control Systems
Must be a self-motivated and driven professional, able to work with minimal supervision, and able to exercise good judgment to keep critical systems operational
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of:
Object Modeling tools and techniques
Principles of Object-Oriented Design practices
Application Architecture
Knowledge of Systems and Systems Development
Capacity Planning
Network Communications concepts
Good communications skills (both oral and written) and analytical skills
Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible work experience in an Information Technology setting, working on complex systems and/or large scale and complex automation projects, of which two (4) years were involved in designing and building the interface between Information Systems and databases
