Job Listing: Market Development Specialist

Our client, a premier employer in rural Northwest Pennsylvania, is selectively looking for top talent and experience for a newly created position as a Market Development Specialist. In this experienced marketing position, you will assist in a variety of projects that focus on sales growth in specific market segments for a line of the company's division, as well as the Training and Services business. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the development and implementing strategies to establish, defend or improve the company's position including identifying priority markets and assisting with the development of strategies to compete in those markets.

Conducting market research to determine products, set targets, establish pricing, sales channels and help with strategic negotiations with customers.

Working closely with Marketing and Communications Department to develop advertising, copy, promotional campaigns and sales support tools.

Prepare product forecasts with input from Field Sales, distributors and end-users for use in production planning and capacity utilization. Provides input into product improvements to meet changing market needs.

Travels up to 50% in the field to identify needs and develop new product ideas and stimulate product support by distributors and end-users.

Attend trade shows and other events/meetings to gather information relating to market conditions, customer needs and competitive offerings

Required Skills


The successful candidate will have the following education and experience:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Business or Marketing - Required

5+ years experience in marketing or sales and project management

Experience with product development process and market analysis techniques required

Solid business acumen and knowledge of business practices that include planning, finance and performance metrics

Technically minded, with strong analytical and problem solving skills

Effective communication, relationship-building and presentation skills, with proven success in negotiating and closing ability

Ability to work autonomously, with flexibility for travel as required - up to 50% of the time
