Job Listing: Laboratory Technician
Performs routine water analyses as per A.P.H.A. "Standards Methods" including the chemical, physical and bacteriological analyses of water. Bacteriological testing includes but is not limited to standard plate counts and coliform counts by the closure method. Conducts basic, routine chemical testing and prepares laboratory test solutions and chemical standards. Keeps/maintains laboratory records and prepares reports for distribution; maintains quality assurance/quality control on lab test procedures. Maintains records/databases that may include but not limited to: source water quality, and water quality inquiry databases. Coordinates sample collection scheduling with field samplers and filter plant operators and performs field sampling. Drives company vehicle.
Required Skills
High school graduate or equivalent is required along with a minimum of two years laboratory experience. Must have basic knowledge of chemistry and biology. A working knowledge of scientific glassware usage and safe handling of chemicals is required along with the ability to perform chemical, physical and bacteriological analyses of water. Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office Software including Word and Excel, and Access preferred. Work duties may include but are not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, sitting, typing, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time. Applicant must possess a valid California Driver's License.
