One of Atlanta's International Insurance Companies is looking to further develop the career of a Statutory Accounting Manager. The main duty of the Statutory Accounting Manager is the preparation and management of all aspects surrounding statutory accounting and reporting, for various licensed divisions of the Company. Other duties include:
" Maintain and control the STAT general ledger including, posting of statutory adjusting entries, balancing of accounts and accuracy of financial results in accordance with established policies and procedures.
" Monitors STAT surplus adequacy, including the preparation of RBC.
" Prepare and analyze quarterly and annual STAT statements.
" Performs complex reconciliations.
" Perform review of account reconciliations.
" Respond to miscellaneous requests from state insurance departments.
" Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with NAIC Codification and state prescribed and permitted practices.
" Assist with the preparation of all statutory filings for insurance companies including, but not limited to: quarterly statements, annual statements, combined annual statements, insurance expense exhibits, investment risk interrogatories, combined insurance expense exhibit, management discussion and analysis, stat audit reports, and risk based capital.
" Prepare supplemental exhibits such as the New York Supplement.
" Interface with all departments to ensure proper data capture to comply with requirements for annual and quarterly filings.
" Research statutory accounting issues to ensure compliance with the NAIC Accounting Practices and Procedures Manual and state proscribes and permitted practices.
" Provide direction and leadership to accountants.
" Special projects and other duties as assigned.


Required Skills

Qualifications…
" Bachelor's degree in Accounting with CPA designation.
" 5-7 years accounting and reporting experience in the insurance industry.
" Ability to understand complex statutory accounting and reporting issues.
" Detail oriented, deadline driven, organized, able to handle multiple tasks while working independently or as part of a team.
" Excellent communication, analytical and proven problem solving skills with a commitment to meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
" Highly motivated and dedicated to contributing to the growth and success of the company.
" Excellent advanced Excel and Access skills a must (macros and pivot tables) as well as the ability to learn software quickly.
