The world's leading Aerospace company has a contract position available for a Systems Engineer.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Network Operator (Systems Engineer) position supports real-time operations and monitoring of the Gateways, TTACs (Telemetry, Tracking and Command/Control ), MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) network and the Message Termination Controller of the Iridium Satellite constellation ground network. Candidate will work 12-hour revolving shifts in support of the 24x7 Real-Time Operations team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include:

Monitoring TTAC operations.

Initiating corrective action to correct TTAC faults.
Contacting Site Personnel or Support Engineers to elevate issues.
Providing first-level troubleshooting and analysis to Ground Station Hardware/Software anomalies.

Monitoring customer Gateways and initiating corrective action to resolve Gateway faults, which includes contacting Gateway site personnel as required and sending network advisories as appropriate.
Monitoring Plan deployments to ensure that all files are built and sent to all TTACs and Gateways.

Adding and changing TTAC-SV contacts as required.
Monitoring payload routing and ensuring that all TTAC-SV routes are current.

Monitoring the FTSP (File Transfer Spooler for Open Systems) transfers to the Gateways and TTACs and taking appropriate action to ensure delivery of failed transfers.

Monitoring deployment of all acquisition and Node Routing tables to all TTACs and Gateways.

Monitoring the Messaging Service and switching between the Primary and Backup Network Connection when problems arise.
Generating Maintenance Tickets to initiate corrective actions for Gateway and/or TTAC Failures.
Monitoring MPLS frame relay network for outages and performing first-level troubleshooting.
