Job Listing: Computer Operator

Volt Workforce Solutions is currently recruiting for a Computer Operator to join our client, a global security company specializing in Aeronautics, Electronic Systems, and Information Systems driven by innovation and integrity.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

--Monitor, operate and troubleshoot two IBM S/390 mainframe systems and peripheral devices.

--Identify, report, coordinate, and document system abnormalities.

--Perform scheduled and unscheduled IPLs/Failovers. Coordinate with maintenance/ System Center/Job Control on all repair actions/status.

--Perform scheduled system tasks (database dumps, spool dumps, inventories, tape switches, RACF reports, etc).

--Participate in testing the integrity of new software as required. Maintain a solid working knowledge of all aspects of the computer systems.

The selected individual must be able to work independently and rotate shifts to cover the 24/7 operations. A good working knowledge or ability to learn, MVS, TSO/ISPF, JCL, RACF, RTXE, TCP/IP, CA-1 and Omegamon is necessary. Create output products and disseminate, as requested. Respond to Communications Replacement Adapter failures. Ensure facility security utilizing established entry access procedures. Assist in training of apprentice personnel. Perform daily tape inventory (mission/scenario tapes). Prepare tape boxes/assist librarian as needed.


Required Skills

- Applicants must take and pass a comprehensive evaluation.

- High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical/para-engineering tasks and 5 Years or more of experience.

- Ability to operate IBM mainframe system and peripheral devices.

- Knowledge/experience with legacy IBM equipment.
