A global leader in Engineering, Construction, and Operations has a long-term Contract position available for an Electrical Design Engineer.
Responsibilities:
The Electrical Design Engineer:

Designs all aspects of electrical power and lighting systems, under the supervision of the Lead Electrical Engineer, for data centers as well as Manufacturing and Industrial facilities.
Produces one-line schematic and riser diagrams, panels schedules, and lighting schedules.
Performs field inspections of existing electrical power and lighting systems.
Generates as-built drawings.
Estimates electrical construction cost.
Designs life safety and UPS systems.
Produces Electrical Design construction and specification documents.
Performs:

Spreadsheet load calculations
Layout and design of equipment rooms
CAD drawing
Selection of electrical devices and distribution equipment from manufacturers catalogs

Performs load calculations to determine the service, circuit breaker, conduit, and conductor sizes.
Specifies and selects electrical equipment.
Estimates Electrical Construction cost(s).

This is a long-term Contract position, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in New York City. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support most of the top rated IT companies on the East Coast.

Required Skills

Required Skills for this Electrical Design Engineer position include the following:

Electrical Designer with 7+ years of experience in design of Electrical Distribution Systems, including:

Switchboards
Transformers
Panel Boards
Generators
Fire Alarms
Lighting
Receptacles
Equipment Rooms
Risers

Significant experience working with Project Managers to determine the project size, scope and budget
Ability to:

Keep a project on course throughout the entire design/production phase
Effectively communicate with all disciplines involved in a given project

Must have Design experience that includes:

Performing load calculations
Specifying and selecting electrical equipment

Experience with Electrical System Design for Industrial facilities and projects, including:

Lighting
Power Distribution
Auxiliary Systems
Substations
Transmission through Distribution, for medium and high-voltage systems

Proficient in AutoCAD, version 2005 or later
Excellent verbal communication skills
Should have an active interest in personal growth/development and be a self-starter
