Mechanical Design Engineer
A global leader in Engineering, Construction, and Operations has a long-term Contract position available for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Design Engineer:
Designs all aspects of air and water side mechanical systems under the supervision of the Lead Mechanical Engineer for data centers, as well as Manufacturing and Industrial facilities.
Performs field inspections of existing mechanical air and water side mechanical systems.
Estimates Mechanical Construction cost(s).
Designs water and air side systems. This includes, but is not limited to the sizing and selection of major mechanical equipment such as:
AHUs
Chillers
Cooling Towers
Pumps
VAVs
HW
CW Coils
Is responsible for the layout and sizing of:
Low, medium, and high-pressure air distribution systems.
Primary, secondary and tertiary water distribution systems.
Produces Mechanical Design Construction and Specification documents.
Responds to RFIs (Requests For Information), and reviews and processes submittals.
Performs HVAC load calculations.
Specifies and selects mechanical equipment.
Estimates mechanical construction cost.
Performs Heating and Cooling load calculations using Trace 700 or Elite software.

Required Skills
Required Skills for this Mechanical Design Engineer position include the following:
5+ years of Mechanical Design experience for Manufacturing and Industrial projects designing Mechanical Distribution systems, including:
The selection of major mechanical equipment
All corresponding distribution systems
Design experience will also include:
Performing HVAC load calculations
Specifying and selecting mechanical equipment
Proficient in AUTOCAD, version 2005 or later
5+ years of experience in design of mechanical systems, including:
Built-up AHUs
Chillers
Cooling Towers
Water Side and Air Side distribution
VAVs, etc.
Capable of:
Producing one-line diagrams for both water and air-side systems
Presenting an HVAC air-side process on a psychometric chart
Experience with Construction Administration, including (but not limited to):
Responding to RFIs
Reviewing and processing submittals
Proficient with MS Office (Word, and Excel)
Excellent verbal communication skills
Must have an active interest in personal growth and development, and be a self-starter
Significant experience working with Project Managers to determine the project size, scope and budget
Ability to:
Keep a project on course throughout the entire design/production phase
Effectively communicate with all disciplines involved in a given project
