Job Listing: Demand Planning/Forecasting SME

We have excellent role in the Business Architecture Group as The Demand Planning / Forecasting subject matter expert who will focus on improving forecasting precision and bottom-line performance cross the organization and cross-functional teams through the development and deployment of new processes, business rules, leading practices, and standard operating procedures, as well as through the implementation of SAP Business Planning Consolidation (BPC) software.

The candidate would be supporting their Canada implementation till end of the 2008 and then be working in Austin, TX area from the beginning of 2009.
This is a long term contract opportunity with possible conversion.

Responsibilities include the following:

Be able to work in a fast paced and collaborative environment to design demand planning / forecasting processes, which have cross-functional touch points.
Drives and develops new insights into the solution that result in organizational improvements; promotes a work environment that fosters creative thinking, innovation and rational risk-taking. Participates in developing process and software performance requirements. Provide input / guidance during software configuration by using subject matter expertise in order to improve capabilities of software and ensure that software meets performance requirements. Seeks to meet critical objectives while considering the impact of those decisions and activities on the ability to achieve long-term goals. Participates in the roll-out the demand planning / forecasting metrics portfolio. Drives the implementation, execution and monitoring. Participates in the implementation of processes and software corporate-wide.

Required Skills

Functional:
" Must have at least 10 years of deep expertise and experience in demand planning / forecasting processes and software.
" Minimum two demand planning / forecasting software configurations and implementations preferred (i.e., forecast pro, forecast expert, focus forecast, futerion, smart forecasts, etc.)
" Must have at least 10 years of deep functional demand planning / forecasting knowledge:
- Types of forecasting approaches and how to apply them to maximize performance
- Types of forecasting data structures and how to maximize their effectiveness
- Types of time-series model compositions and how to apply them to maximize performance
- Understanding and application of systematic and random components of observed demand and their impact on planning / forecasting
- Understanding of leading practices that support optimal process and software performance
- Understanding and application of systematic sub-components to
maximize performance outcome.
- Expertise in using both univariate and multivariate forecasting
models.
- Understanding and application of multiple forecasting performance /
accuracy metrics (i.e., CV, RMSE, FA, MAPE, WMAPE, MPE, etc.).
- Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
- Must have demonstrated process improvement and consensus building skills.

Technical:

- Must have proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, and PowerPoint.
- Must have proficiency in data mapping and extraction.
- Data mining experience from SAP BW is preferred.
- Knowledge of statistical and mathematical computer
programs and modeling techniques is preferred.
- Ability to access, analyze and utilize information in a
manner that adds value to the project and organization.
- Knowledge of SAP R/3 preferred.


Education:

- Bachelor's/MBA/MS degree in supply chain management /
operations management is required.
- APICS certification is required.
- Certified professional forecaster is preferred.
