Volt Technical Resources is recruiting an Entry-Level Java/J2EE Programmer to join a growing Mobile Telecom Application Service Provider as a Production Services Programmer/Analyst.
General Duties:

Research, analysis and resolution of Production Application issues.
Packaging and deployment of production fixes and development enhancements into Testing and Production environments.
Identification, analysis, design, development and testing of application optimizations and tools.
Analysis, design, and development of ad-hoc and regular, management and performance reports.
Participation in on-call rotation(s).

Production Services Duties:

Supporting assigned service(s) (24/7) via support phone
Deployment of Development and Bugfix releases into testing and production
Executing pre-deployment checklist on Development releases (sign-off) after QA completion
Research and source identification of Help Desk-reported troubles
Analysis, design, coding and testing of production bug fixes
Assuring “fixed” code is merged back into development code base
Maintenance of Help Desk documentation
Application configuration
Capacity monitoring, reporting and planning
Analysis, design, coding, testing and execution of ad-hoc and regular reports
Coordination of:

Regularly-scheduled maintenance activities with DBAs, Operations and external systems
Non-regular activities such as upgrades and migrations of hardware and third party software

This is a Contract to Direct Hire position, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in Vienna, VA. Required Skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
Technical:
Knowledge of:

UNIX
Java 1.4 or higher
J2EE to include:

EJBs
JNDI
JMS
Servlets
JSPs
JDBC

JBoss 3x/4x and/or WebLogic 8x
Creating and parsing XML
Oracle 8x or higher
Perl and Shell Scripting a plus

Communication:

Fluent English
Ability to write clearly

Personal:

A determination to solve puzzles with a sense of when to ask questions
A healthy controlled ego
