This position is within the Electronics and Controls Division of the Technology Competencies (Research) Department The selected candidate will be the Knowledge Owner for Perception & Environment Sensing. This role is responsible for maintaining the knowledge base in this area; technology mentoring; defining knowledge/technical gaps; defining projects for closing technology gaps; define, develop, and maintain strategic technology partnerships; Intellectual Property stewardship; interacting with the production engineering groups to integrate the technology into production programs.
Candidate must hold a MS or greater in electrical/computer or mechanical engineering with a focus on robotics and autonomous systems. Specific academic and/or industry experience (7-10 yrs) with the following areas is required: Perception technologies (ex Radar, Lidar, Vision and IR, etc), Data Fusion of these types of sensing technologies, and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). The candidate should be familiar with the design, analysis, and test of embedded control systems and have significant experience with the development of software (C, C+) for embedded controls The candidate must also be familiar with MATLAB/Simulink (including Kalman filter function) modeling/development tools to the extent that they can generate MATLAB/Simulink models from specifications and requirements for machine and electro hydraulic control systems. Good communication and interpersonal skills is a must as is the ability to work on projects safely with minimal supervision. He or she is required to have good team skills. Ability to travel will be required.
