Job Listing: IT Analyst (WSUS System Administration)
Volt Technical Resources is seeking an experienced IT professional with a System Administration background who is capable of thinking on their toes and wearing many hats.
The individual assigned to this effort will assist in providing computer software support that will include:
Administration of WSUS 3.0 for approximately 3500 Windows desktop computers
Creation and administration of Windows image files for 2000, XP and Vista on multiple desktop hardware platforms
Testing, Installation, troubleshooting and administration of desktop applications.
Primary tools used for Imaging and application installation will be Ghost Solution Suite 2.0, ImageX, WinPE and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007.
Incident management will be via Numara Track-It! 8.5.
Some field support and testing will be included as needed.
Documentation of procedures and processes will be included.
Managing Windows desktop security and patching or other applications as deemed necessary
Tasks related to equipment set up may include:
Administration of WSUS 3.0 including approving and filtering of hot fixes and service packs.
Creation of Windows image files (2000 Professional & XP Professional)
Use of Windows Sysprep tool, Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.0
PC hardware troubleshooting experience
Installation of desktop hardware and software
Completion of service requests that may include movement of hardware, coordination and scheduling of the move request with the Customer/Program Point of Contact.
Installing additional software as requested by customer.
Configuring and testing new IT hardware, applications and software settings
Customer support.
Problem resolution, including equipment configuration, installation of hardware or software, and client LAN issues.
Configuring, packaging and managing desktop applications
Service Pack and Hotfix packaging, installation and management
Remote Windows administration and configuration

Required Skills
Mandatory Characteristics:
Administration of WSUS and Windows Group Policy Objects
Ability to maintain effective work relationships in a team environment.
Creation, deployment and management of Windows image files
Use of Microsoft Sysprep
Administration of Symantec Ghost Solution Suite
Testing, Installation and Troubleshooting Microsoft desktop applications
Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks.
Able to lift 50 pounds.
Capable of dealing with executive level of management.
Capable of maintaining a neutral position under adverse conditions.
Commit to project for up to one year but not limited to.
Communicate clearly and effectively (written, oral, and graphics).
Experience in performing process documentation.
Experience supporting Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating system.
Neat and professional appearance.
Self-starter, capable of performing with a minimum of supervision.
Strong technical background in equipment operation systems, communications, and hardware configuration.
Attendance is monitored as it is very important
Valid California driver’s license and auto insurance.

Ghost Solutions Suite administration and implementation
Microsoft Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) experience
HP OpenView Software Configuration Management using Radia
Altiris and Microsoft System Management Server (SMS) experience
Windows XP, Office 2003 installation and configuration
Understanding of WAN/LAN design and function
Wake-on-Lan (WOL) configuration and implementation
ImageX and System Image Manager
Windows Deployment Services (Windows DS)
Windows Preinstallation Environment (WindowsPE)
A+, MCP, CCNA, MCDST
