T-Mobile USA seeks a full-time government and community relations professional to assist company’s external affairs efforts at the local and state levels throughout the Northeast Region which encompass Maine to Virginia. This regional position assists the Senior Manager of External Affairs for the Northeast Region serving the markets through proactive management of messaging, community relations, public relations, and political partnerships. Candidate will be responsible for identifying key third party allies, and building and managing relationships with those business leaders, community allies and local elected officials to keep them informed of the company’s developments in their area and obtain support for key business initiatives as they relate to the company’s broader public policy & network development goals. Applicant will also be responsible for issues management, media relations, drafting written communications, including press materials, grassroots lobbying letters, testimony, and talking points.

Required Skills

-BA and at least 4-6 years relevant work experiences within community relations and local politics
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Proven ability to manage challenging issues

Functions:
-Coordinate the responses to market or regional media inquiries & develop relationships with local media contacts in order to communicate T-Mobile’s key messages
-Assist public events and key dealer opportunities to support siting
-Participate as member of regional and local industry associations and business groups, such as local Chambers of Commerce, that may further T-Mobile’s network
-Represent T-Mobile’s interests in all relevant public policy and land use matters at the community level;
-Assist in grassroots lobbying efforts and/or developing testimony on behalf of business and telecommunications interests as necessary
-Build and maintain relationships with key business leaders and other stakeholders, including local Chambers of Commerce, local Business Improvement Districts, and Community Boards
-Explain telecommunications technology and educate key interest groups on the needs of the industry as they relate to public policy matters
-Provide staff support for day to day operations of External Affairs Regional Senior Manager

A successful applicant will be a persuasive negotiator and consensus builder with stakeholders; have experience in stakeholder management, and be politically astute.
Superior organizational, leadership, strategic thinking and planning skills are a must, as are strong communication, media, and public speaking skills.
