Our client is seeking an individual with a solid background in RPG that has moved into Java programming. The experience with RPG, ideally, will be no older than a few years. Candidates will need to be able to utilize RPG and do maintenance on the iSeries but also needs to be proficient with Java. POSITION PURPOSE
This great opportunity requires a Programmer Level 4 to support application systems for our client. Programmer will work independently and on teams to meet goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Modify/maintain existing legacy applications.
- Java programming and application development.
- RPG programming and application development.
- Draft design specifications for new software and enhancements requirements based on industry technical and process best practices.
- Perform all programming and/or configuration assignments with minimal supervision
- Analyze and resolve software errors in a timely and accurate fashion
- Support for third-party package system integration
- Create and maintain documentation for code and/or configuration throughout the system development lifecycle
- Communicate with internal customers, management, application teams, and application control or development teams throughout the duration of the project; serve as a consulting resource for internal customers.
- Provide status reports, when required.
- Train end users on established programs, when required.
- Provide on-call support and problem resolution for software applications
- Collaborate with peers, managers, internal customers and external third parties to achieve project results
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related IT field required.
- 3-5 years of programming experience required.
- iSeries (AS400) platform, relational database design and data modeling; RPG IV using ILE and/or RPG-Free; SQL; a working knowledge of AS 400 hardware and software; Java/J2EE.
- Team player.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- All other tasks as required
