We are currently in search of an Engineering Technician who has experience in the consumer electronics industry. This position is full-time and long-term, and will start on a contract-to-hire basis.
Summary:
Develops, designs, and tests electronic components, products, and systems under the direction of engineering staff by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assists in the design, fabrication, testing and documentation of electronic products.
* Uses computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare printed circuit board (PCB) layout, bills of material (BOM), detailed drawings, and schematics. Constructs project prototypes. Develops and uses computer software and hardware in conducting tests on electronic products and systems.
* Assists in the maintenance and operation of lab tools that support the development process.
* Supports production for IQA test implementation and failure analysis.
* Sets up and conducts verification and/or validation tests of the prototype under bench and/or operational conditions to evaluate the full functionality of the prototype for performance, conformance to design, statutory and regulatory specifications, and objectives of the project.
* Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to the design, statutory, and regulatory specifications and product objectives. After conferring with engineering personnel in a design review, the Engineering tech will modify or adjust the prototype to meet requirements.
* Records the results of all testing into the proper logs and forms. Presents completed project to management for review.
* Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommends changes in product or test method.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & TOOLS
* Associates Degree (ASEE) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school and at least 5 years of related experience.
* Experience with PROTEL and/or Altium Designer 6 schematic capture and PCB layout is desired.
* Labview programming experience.
* Proficient soldering skills and in using PCB rework equipment.
* Proficient in prototype building including working with SMD components (0402, high pin count fine pitch IC’s)
* Strong ability to do board level testing and troubleshooting on high density SMD boards.
