A large national defense manufacturer is looking to bring on a CNC programmer and machinist for their Dallas office. The main job duties are to create and maintain programs for CNC equipment at minimum cost, using the most effective metal removal rates for optimum tool life and increase efficiency. Deliver CNC programs to the shop in a timely manner. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with shop personnel and supervisors to insure the successful implementation of programs.
Required skills are:
1) Prepare and maintain 4 to 5-axis mill programs for CNC machine tools
2) Select the chucking device, cutting tools, tool arrangement, and cutting speeds and feeds for parts applicable to CNC machining
3) Prepare shop process manuals and supervise the process validation portion of new program prove out
4) Communicate effectively with the manufacturing engineers, development engineering, plant personnel, and individuals outside the company
5) Identify and report any cost improvements
6) Complete special projects as assigned
7) Assist in the training of operators on new CNC equipment and programs
8) Assist in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures, and special equipment for CNC applications
9) Maintain constant flow of work through the shop by minimizing down time due to CNC programs
10) Ability to create 4 or 5-axis programs for mills and lathes, as well as traditional manufacturing methods.
11) Must have experience with FANUC controller.
