Navigation Data Analyst Profile:
Job Description:
The BPT Seismic Project is seeking a data analyst to join the team to provide database and spatial data analysis to the ongoing seismic navigation data repair initiatives. This is a full-time assignment that will last approximately twelve months.
Responsibilities:
-Perform data analysis to identify seismic lines that are missing associated navigation data
-Analyze Trango database for duplicate navigation data to identify candidate seismic lines that needs to be merged
-Index seismic data into Trango database as needed to support the navigation repair initiative
-Assembling external (Vendors) seismic navigation data for data found but not linked to seismic lines in Trango database.
-Comparing external navigation data against internal (Trango) navigation data.
-Participate in project collaboration meetings and work sessions as required. These meetings will provide project updates, ensure coordination of project resources, and coordinate communication efforts with other projects.
-The Data Analyst may be called upon to perform other data cataloging, data conversion, data extraction, data scanning, and testing as part of the project.
Requirements:
Solid understanding of ArcGIS and ESRI tools is required
Familiarity with seismic and geophysical concepts is essential
Knowledge of seismic data formats (SEGY, SEGP1) is essential
Understanding of SQL and relational databases is essential
Understanding of Trango software is preferred
Analytical skills to evaluate the information and data related to workflows developed
Excellent collaboration skills to manage tasks and work as part of the team.
Excellent documentation skills to ensure various processes and solutions are documented.
