Job Listing: Commercial Construction Estimator

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for material take-offs, soliciting and receiving of bids for materials and subcontracts of detailed fixed price estimates, and purchasing for predominantly outside work, preparation of conceptual/budget estimates for predominantly outside projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- More than 5 years of estimating and purchasing experience and/or equivalent training/education.

TYPICAL ASSIGNMENTS:
- Responsible for all quantity take-off of materials for inside/outside building estimates.
- Notify approved suppliers and subcontractors of projects out for bid, by preparing bid list and either notifying subcontractors by phone or bid card.
- Analyze all bids and selects appropriate bidder using criteria of schedule, price and performance.
- Prepare a detailed estimate of project(s) and review with Manager of Estimating.
- Assist the Business Development Department prepare proposals for any outside projects.
- Upon receipt of a signed proposal, purchases all suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare conceptual/budget estimates on inside/outside projects.
- Monitor new technology in the construction field, and when appropriate.
- May also be responsible to lead Estimate Teams on larger projects, or train other Estimators.
