Opportunity available for an Automation Controls engineer looking to learning and growth by working closely with a stable company's president. Our client designs, develops, and manufactures semi-automated industrial lasers, and is in need of an Engineer experienced with Automation to join their team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Pre-sale conceptual design, schedule, and cost estimation
-Detailed design of automation controls subsystems consisting of detailed electrical, control, signaling, and power design, and specification of PLC and controller functionality
-Acceptance testing leading to customer sign-off on selected projects
-Specify design verification test requirements, and conduct, review and approve the results of such tests.
-Provide technical supervision to designers and assembly technicians assigned to project.
-Project management role for selected projects from purchase order to shipment.
-Oversee construction and maintenance of design file and user documentation for complete system
-Prepare engineering input for product release and support by other departments
-Day to day coordination with Production Manager, Applications Manager, and Sales Manager as needed in Project Management role
- Follow the established current-business-driven work cycles-- for Pre-booking there is a one week turnaround on concept sketches and estimation. For Post-booking, PO to shipment is typically 12 weeks.
-Design and document using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Visio
REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in Engineering
-Formal project management training and experience
-Communicate well orally and in writing with customers and others with whom he/she works with within and outside the Engineering department.
-Able to prepare and deliver professional technical and educational presentations
-Work experience using schematic capture and flowcharting tools and standard electronic test equipment
-Practical experience with professional engineering design and document control methodology
-Three years+ experience in designing or specifying automation controls (an emphasis on power and control electronic design, PLC hardware and software in industrial automation systems)
-Ability to travel occasionally (2 weeks per quarter)
The location for this position is in Monrovia, CA
The salary for this position is $85-90K
