TEKsystems client in Ft. Knox is searching for a 6 month contract to hire position as a PC Support Manager. This candidate's primary responsibilities require he/she to be involved in multiple levels of complexity to include tasks regarding the ability to respond to and diagnose personal computer (PC) to include various types of desktop/laptop problems. This candidate will need to perform server operations, backups and maintenance; network connectivity for both local area network (LAN) and wireless activities. Studies and projects information technology (IT) resource requirements including personnel, software, equipment and facilities and makes recommendations to management. The candidate will maintains currency in new developments and technology. Provides for the training of department staff and end users. Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced. Provides leadership in the effective use of internal IT, automated office systems, networking and data communications. This includes the ability to work with end users to obtain problem recognition, research potential cause(s), isolate, and implement appropriate steps to resolve user error conditions/issues. The candidate may be required to participate in in-depth investigative efforts into more complex problem types to further assist or resolve problems. Candidate may also be required to participate in development testing/prototype efforts to ensure instructions, processes and functionality requirements are met. They will need to provide customer assistance to users on utilization of commercial-off-the-shelf software products, Cadet Command and recruiting specific software applications. Candidate will be required to install and configure current US Army Accession Command's image/baseline, updates, security patches and other unique software products/tools necessary to support the Cadet Command's recruiting mission. The candidate must be capable of resolving medium to complex problems utilizing PC, software and peripheral equipment as well as video teleconferencing equipment. The candidate is required to plan, schedule, manage, track, and recommend IT solutions while overseeing various activities impacting the brigade and make recommendations on procedures, IT proposals, liaison between other organizational elements locally, etc.
DETAILED REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:
- Minimum four (4) years of industry knowledge of information technology
best practices and services. Prior Army recruiting experience is a plus.
- Minimum four (4) years experience in personal computer
hardware/software/peripheral maintenance and Level 2/3 help desk support.
- Must have A+, N+ and other higher level Microsoft certifications.
- Ability to isolate the cause/effect and prioritize problems using monitoring tools and understanding of software application/database structures/design.
- Demonstrated knowledge of experience in monitoring and assisting end users with network connectivity activities and/or systems within a large enterprise.
- Conceptual understanding of connectivity architecture in wireless and LAN environments.
- Experience working with servers to include installation of software upgrades, backups and maintenance.
- Knowledge of a variety of video teleconferencing (VTC)/conference room
equipment and maintenance.
- Understanding of network protocols in order to assist users obtaining connectivity to the Recruiting Services Network (RSN) and traffic issues on a large network.
- Technical documentation skills and the ability to create written reports such as solution recommendations and providing background information on technical issues.
- Knowledge of system security, system integration principles and technologies of multiple operating systems.
- Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly develop new job-specific skills.
- Ability to work independently and establish priorities and accomplish
assigned tasks within established suspense dates.
- Willingness to work after hours and on weekends.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain an IT-I Secret Clearance.
