Volt Technical Resources is currently recruiting candidates for a Senior Software Engineer role with Our Client in the Fort Lauderdale area. POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position:

Actively participates in the design, development, and implementation of Object-Oriented Development Life-Cycle, including:

Coding
Documentation
Testing
Implementation
Training

Works collaboratively within small teams while assuming responsibility for the development of system-level components within Software Development projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Software Engineer position is responsible for:

Understanding both technology and Associated Business Processes, and applying that knowledge to deliver integrated solutions.
Writing intelligently planned, highly structured, and well-commented code while adhering to The Company’s development process and conventions.

The Engineer shares the responsibility for delivering functionality and performance set by project definitions and release milestones.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
The Senior Software Engineer

Produces well-structured and documented, as well as maintainable, software within the Product Development lifecycle.
Collaborates with other Developers to produce software that interacts with:

Graphical interfaces
Logic systems
State Machines
Embedded databases

Places a strong emphasis on Object-Oriented Methodology and Design.
Works to improve productivity while, at the same time, ensuring the integrity and clarity results.
Works with QA/Test to ensure high-quality products.
Estimates work tasks to ensure delivery of agreed-upon time scales.
Contributes to institutionalization of disciplines and tools while adhering to Our Client’s development process.

This is a Contract to Direct Hire position, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in Winter Park, FL. Required Skills

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE:
Required

Strong Design/Implementation skills in C++ on Linux or Unix platform for use in Application Software on Consumer Electronics products
Strong Embedded Systems background
Experience implementing:

User Interface back-end logic
State machines
Embedded Rules Engine

Experience interfacing with and optimizing Embedded Databases

Desired

Development:

Of Digital TV, DVR, and/or set-top box applications
Experience in one or more of the following areas:

Embedded Databases
User Interface Implementation
Linux Kernel/Drivers

Development experience with SQL/MySQL
Experience with Interactive Advertising applications a plus

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

BS/MS (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Engineering
Highly-developed technical skills needed to perform the job
Ideally, will have 4-6 years commercial Software Development experience within Consumer Electronics, Telecoms and/or Aerospace Industries
