Volt Technical Resources has an immediate long-term contract opening for a Senior IT Support Analyst to work for Our Client in Marlborough, MA. The client is an industry leader in graphics, chipsets, and consumer electronics.
Position Description:
This is a dynamic work environment that will provide the opportunity to administer and support a wide range of software and hardware technologies. Primary duties will involve supporting Engineering organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior IT Support Analyst will:
Provide customer and technical support through analysis and problem-solving, in order to administer an environment comprised of:
Storage
Linux and Windows servers and workstations
Perform installation, upgrades, maintenance and implementation of hardware and software to the Linux and Windows servers and workstations.
Interface with users to resolve issues.
Additional Duties:
Install, maintain and repair hardware and software on the Linux servers, workstations, and the storage environment.
Interface with the User Community to resolve issues.
Support the backups and restores.
Develop scripts/program(s) to automate and monitor servers.
Perform security measure(s) to prevent risk.
Be involved in miscellaneous projects to improve the Linux and Windows server environment.
Provide technical support for software, hardware and network-related issues.
Test and deploy new technology for use at the site.
Provide technical support of Network Appliance file servers.
Provide security Best Practices and guide the team in order to implement them in preventing risk (i.e. Anti-Virus, patches).
Ensure network and IP connectivity of all workstations, application servers, and back-end office infrastructure.
Specify configuration and initiate purchasing of computers and accessories.
Be available for off-hours and weekend on-call duty rotation.
Diagnose, maintain and repair hardware as required.
Interface with hardware vendors with regards to support and repair.
Work with other IT support groups and/or CAD support to resolve user/site issues.

Experience with Unix administration such as security and availability

NFS

Telnet

TCP/IP
Experience with backup software
Experience with X tools such as:
Exceed
VNC on Windows desktop
Knowledge of GNU software and other freeware such as Apache
Knowledge of Scripting languages
Experience with Network Appliance Filers
Experience working in a switched and routed environment
Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience
Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent
Minimum 1-4 years of experience in Windows and Linux Server Support role
Detail-oriented, multi-tasking and self-motivated fast learner
Excellent customer service and troubleshooting skills on computer hardware and software
Bonus Knowledge and Experience (Nice to Have):
Knowledge of:
LSF and Vendor CAD tools environment
VERITAS Netbackup
Nortel network switch troubleshooting, configuration and maintenance
Windows Infrastructure Design and Administration such as:
Active Directory
Exchange
User Administration, Security and Availability
Experience with Sun and HP X86 hardware
