Job Listing: Project Engineer
Volt Technical Resources is currently seeking a Reliability Engineer for direct placement with a fast-paced organization in the Metropolitan St. Louis area. The candidate will be responsible for research and development activities, designing new process and equipment modifications, establishing operating and engineering standards and working on engineering and maintenance program development. Primary focus is on improvement of equipment and systems reliability, development and support of maintenance management system and special projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, develops, and coordinates expansion of existing production lines and processes with the objective of improving productivity and reliability.
Researches and makes recommendations reqarding purchase of equipment, parts or services. May design or assist in the production of new equipment or in modifications to existing equipment.
Develops new and improves existing systems, programs, and standards for maintenance and engineering operations to include the maintenance management system.
Meets with customers and members of the company team to develop project parameters. Performs research and development activities based upon information developed.
Establishes operating procedures and makes changes to existing procedures, which support and improve production effort.
Prepares written and statistical reports to keep customers, vendors, contractors, and plant personnel updated on project status and issues.
Provides training and daily support to plant personnel with respect to set-up, troubleshooting, operation, clean-up, and maintenance or equipment relating to special projects or daily operation.
Hires Contractors and purchases parts and equipment.
Responsible for doing reading and gathering information which will allow the Company to be aware of changes in technology.
Understands plant labeling requirements and sees that all chemicals are properly labeled and managed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory:
Position is responsible for supervising the activities of Contractors.
Required Skills
Ability to read, write and speak English so that individual can analyze and interpret scientific and technical information and communicate thoughts, concepts, and plans to all levels of the organization. Requires the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Requires the ability to problem solve and draw conclusions from a wide variety of data to include instructions in mathematical or diagram form, blue prints, schematics, production records, personal observations and the observations of others. Must be familiar with chemical and tableting equipment and with the general manufacturing process. Individual must be able to operate an IBM PC utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite of Products. The Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a minimum of ten years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment in an engineering or maintenance capacity. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a Candidate to perform essential functions of the job.
Individual will work with, or be familiar with, all equipment in the manufacturing facility and will operate a personal computer. In addition may use drafting equipment, and work with CAD programs and engineering related software.
The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and kneel on a regular basis. Reaches with arms and uses hands to work with and gather information about parts and equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Employee may be exposed to various chemicals. Employee must be able to wear a respirator and/or other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary to reduce exposure. Employee must be able to work in heat and cold.
Communication:
Individual will have daily contact with all levels in the organization, with vendors, with peers in other organizations and with customers. Communication will be both oral and written. Communication will frequently require tact, discretion, judgement and diplomacy. Communication will include negotiation, persuading, directing, informing, coordinating, directing, and selling activities
