My Client, a leader in their respective industry is seeking a Software Engineer. The successful candidate will be a member of the Networks Engineering team, reporting directly to the Software Manager and will be responsible for firmware development activities on the company’s products as described below. The person will be given the title of Senior Software Engineer.
The Company’s offering can be characterized as a movable wireless network ideally suited for monitoring the presence, location, and condition, of people, objects, or the local environment. Although the patented technology (8 granted, 5 issued and 50 pending) is applicable to multiple markets, the Company is focusing its efforts on First Responders in the Public Safety Market and Container Tracking. Although these markets appear to be very diverse, they can be thought of as asset tracking and can be addressed with the same core technology. The company plans to build and sell systems primarily through indirect sales channels that have established relationships in each particular market. The company will also be building out a nationwide, shared network that will provide “islands of coverage” determined by customer requirements. This service offering will also provide connectivity and asset monitoring for other technologies to meet varying customer requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Software Manager and other members of the Engineering team in developing the company products. This candidate will be specifically responsible for embedded code development for a low power wireless communication device, including networking code and use of a real-time operating system. The candidate must be a self-motivated individual capable of working without much supervision and be able to contribute innovative ideas in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
General Description of Responsibilities (not in any particular order):
1. Perform software design, coding, and testing on low power embedded wireless communication devices.
2. Perform network stack development.
3. Develop specifications and design documentation.
4. Ability to drive a project from concept to full production ramp.
5. Ability to work with technical management, turning conceptual requirements into specific designs.
Work experience requirements:
-7+ years of experience in embedded software development.
-Strong real-time software development skills
-3+ years experience developing and/or working with network stacks.
-Experience with wireless protocols (Bluetooth, 802.15.4, etc.) desired
Education/Certification/Technical/Other Requirements:
-Undergraduate degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
**Strong C programming experience
**Embedded development
**Linux OS experience (open to UNIX)
**Open to years of experience (need at least 1 senior level person- others can be 3+ years exp.)
