Job Listing: Security System Engineer

*Because this position is directly supporting the US Government the ability of obtaining a U.S. clearance is required*

TEKsystems has partnered with a mid-size government integrator to identify a Security System Engineer for a six month consulting to hire opportunity in the Rockville, MD area. This position will be involved with Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Support.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Analyzing, defining implementing, and documenting security controls for applications/systems
- Continuous monitoring of the effectiveness of security controls throughout the systems development life cycle
- Address vulnerabilities and create action plans
- Track Certification and Accreditation status of all applications/systems
- Manage the vulnerability tracking system and reporting of system requirements
- Assist in ensuring that the customer achieves 100% security awareness training compliance by tracking completion status of all computer users.
- Assist in the installation of PKI certificates for users creating, accessing, processing, and or storing sensitive information.

Required Skills:
- Have familiarity with the security policies and laws that govern the implementation of agency policies and safeguards.
- Install new security software, upgrade current software with new releases of patches.
- Coordinate incident handling, investigation and correction of scan vulnerability requests.
- Experience in documentation and with software, such as MS Active Directory, MS Outlook, and MS Office Suite; Database products (Access, MS SQL, and Oracle), Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers and Crystal Reporting.
- Developing Risk Assessments, Contingency Plans/Disaster Recovery Plans, and Systems Development Life Cycle controls, with concomitant experience of firewalls, scanners, sniffers, intrusion detection, incident handling and investigation, and awareness training.
