Position Title: Controls Designer
Company Information:
Our client, founded in the early 90’s is a veteran and minority-owned privately held small business. Their industry focus is in the technical services industry. They provide services to many client sectors throughout the world including: nuclear power, utilities, manufacturing, government, pharmaceuticals, Petrochemical, Paper, and Automotive. This company handles the consulting and technical services in mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and maintenance program development and management.
Description:
- Develop control panel layouts based upon manufacturer installation instructions and in accordance to NEC and UL508a regulations and standards.
- Develop power diagrams, control wiring diagrams, and/or loop drawings in accordance to set standards. Track revision levels and revise production drawings to as-built drawings in standard format.
- Train shop personnel in proper layout, wiring, and assembly of control panels and electro-mechanical subassemblies.
- Troubleshoot electro-mechanical assemblies and determine faults due to misapplication or out of tolerance component parts.
- Set and ensure all shop safety guidelines are distributed, explained, and enforced.
- Provide a willingness and ability to meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality.
- Interact with Engineers, Management, and customers in a courteous, professional manner at all times. Remain productive and proactive in an ever-changing production environment and meet the challenges head-on.
Qualifications:
1. AA degree in electrical engineering and 5 years control design experience with at least one year in a supervisory capacity. Can substitute experience for degree but must be a top level controls expert.
2. Demonstrative familiarity with NEC codes and UL control panel standards.
3. Control design of 480/230/208VAC systems may include Motor Control Centers (MCC) and power equipment, 3 phase power distribution, and 120VAC/24VDC control panel experience.
4. Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and AutoCADor AutoCADLT.
5. Knowledge of and experience with normal hand tools, punch sets, marking systems, and power tools related to the controls manufacturing industry.
6. Familiar with manlifts and safety harness devices.
7. Positive outlook with the confidence and initiative to consistently find solutions to design and production issues.
