Primary Job Functions:

Responsible for conceptual layout; design analysis; detail design & drawing creation.

Performs mechanical design, engineering analysis, and prepares equipment or material specifications.

Support Stirling machine and mechanical design to meet project requirements related to Performance, Reliability, Safety and Cost targets.

Interface with manufacturing to ensure design for manufacturing goals are met.

May supervise or coordinate the work of engineers, designers, and other technical support personnel.

Works with Manufacturing Engineers to evaluate and screen potential suppliers, develops plans to reduce costs, improve quality and ensure on-time delivery.

Reporting Relationship:

Assigned project leads as specified by the Vice President of Engineering


Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

Required:

Computer literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project preferred). 3D CAD Solid Modeling, MathCAD, and FEA experience preferred.

Must have demonstrated back ground in product development including knowledge of production and prototype material systems, product forms, joining processes, corrosion and material issues across a broad range of application.

Must have initiative. Will work independently. Must possess a strong desire to learn.

Must be familiar with the design process and specifications leading to construction documents.

Ability to perform designs using CAD software, Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks preferred.

Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems.

Career includes experience working across a broad range of projects in a new product development environment.

Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.

Must possess strong team player abilities, these include: a demonstrated character of integrity, ability to communicate a clear, concise vision and the ability to influence team members at all levels of the organization for positive project results.

Desired:

Should have good working experience in some of the following areas: boilers, pressure vessels, automotives, motors, compressors, heat exchangers, precision equipments, power generation or similar areas

Should have good working experience in some of the following areas; ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, their product forms (plate, bar, castings).

Should have good working experience in some of the following areas; forming, stamping, swaging, welding (fusion and solid states), adhesives, ceramics (insulation) and finishes.

Project management experience.

Basic knowledge of thermal and structural analysis.

Basic knowledge of materials, especially high temperatures.

Understanding of mechanical power generations, electric machinery, power electronics, control systems, interdisciplinary systems engineering, and associated manufacturing processes.

Proven ability to perform in high-growth environments.

Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret customer or internal specification documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education/Experience

Required:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university
Authorization to work in U.S.A.
Minimum 3-10 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of experience and advanced engineering education required.
Desired:

Master’s degree (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university
Working Conditions

Primarily an office environment with occasional exposure to the manufacturing area.
