Job Listing: Radio Communications Technician

Minimum qualifications for Radio Communications Technicians

The requirements are intended to fill a radio communications technician position for the State of Maine radio communications system. The candidate must be highly skilled in installation, maintenance, programming and repair of all aspects of public safety radio communications.

- Technician with 4 years’ experience in large mission critical VHF Radio Communications
- Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of base stations, repeaters, mobile and portable VHF radios
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair radios down to component level
- Must be able to program radios using software
- Must be able to align all equipment to correct power levels. Set tone controls and tune antennas and duplexers
- Must be familiar with radio tower maintenance and grounding standards
- Must be able to install and repair antennas and wiring in vehicles, buildings and towers
- Knowledge of installation and repair and programming of dispatch consoles
- Repair and align microwave equipment – experience with analog and digital microwave
- FCC License or equivalent - nice to have
