Job Listing: Mac Computer Tech

TEKsystems has partnered with a leading publisher of online games and books. We have an immediate need for a Apple Computer/Macintosh technician to support an office for the creative team.

Contract: 6 months minimum
Location: Renton, WA


POSITION PURPOSE
The Mac Tech II position maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals. Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and supports multi-site initiatives. This position is a mentor to the Technical Analyst I and plays a strong roll as a resource to the client.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Support:
- Executive show support local and remote sites
- Strong people skills
- Provide client support (resource to client)
- Cross trained in Mac and Wintel (Windows)
- Resolve help calls with no direction
- Strong internal business knowledge (internal processes)
- Provide home client computer support (if fits business requirements)
- Assist in the development of help/tutorial handouts for CBT (computer based training) and WBT (web based training)
- Troubleshoot corrupt graphic files for designers
- Strong knowledge of 4 color process, prepress, photography, and the separation process
- Knowledge of how to build a production release ready graphic file.

Network Support:
- Setup of client level VPN’s
- Uses OSX networking tools to detect port speeds and network conflicts
- Ability to set IP addressing
- Setup new client network accounts

Printer Plotter:
- Provide troubleshooting for most printer problems
- Installation of drivers (provided)
- Installation of printers and or RIPs
- Download print drivers and install

Office Automation:
- Font management
- Strong understanding of the following applications:
o Photoshop
o Illustrator
o Quark
o Freehand
o Norton Antivirus
o Norton Utilities
o Network Administrator
o 3D Studio Max
o Indesign
- BETA testing (recommends testing criteria)
- Software installation
- Break/fix
- Strong working knowledge of applications
- Create System Images and Implement

Hardware Support:
- Assist and/or drive multi-site projects to completion
- Research and develop new technology
- Installation of RAM upgrades
- Installation of CD Rom drives
- Installation of hard drives
- Installation of external peripherals (Zip, Jazz, Scanner, etc)
- Installation of printers – personal and network
- Install pre-defined images
- Troubleshooting via remote access
- VNC
- Network Administrator
- Push and pull
- Rollout of new equipment
- Configure client access
- Data translation
- Setup mail client & transfer client data
- Setup remote dial in access
- Setup PDA’s
- Beta test new hardware and provide recommendations
