Overall Description: Position reports to the Maintenance Manager. This position ensures the existence of a continually improving predictive and preventive maintenance program. This includes the use of predictive maintenance techniques to determine equipment condition and to prevent minor equipment problems from causing catastrophic failures. Position works closely with and provides technical support to the Maintenance and Production departments. In addition, the Position acts as a Junior Project Engineer managing site projects under the auspices of the Maintenance Manager as appropriate. Incumbent also provides troubleshooting assistance to site Production Process and Control Engineers when process problems occur, affecting product quality or production efficiency.
Challenges of the position include:
- Continual reviews of existing preventive maintenance tasks and
schedule to ensure optimal use of dedicated manpower and equipment.
- Keeping abreast of industry state of the art predictive and
preventive maintenance techniques.
- Regular Mechanic awareness and technique training in the use of
Predictive maintenance equipment including vibrational analysis equipment, alignment equipment, ultrasonic equipment, bolt torquing techniques, and fiberscopic equipment.
- Balancing the priorities of long term reliability objectives while dealing with day to day activities managing small contractor projects and maintenance related efforts.
- Providing technical support to multiple persons both internal and
external to the Maintenance and Engineering Departments.
- Includes the management of special projects as Project Engineer for projects to conduct troubleshooting or change review support assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
- Performs the necessary research to develop high quality engineering and site technical specifications and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
(Wt 20%) 1. Identify recurring reliability problems of site equipment
resulting in production downtime and develop corrective measures to maximize uptime. Facilitate cost / cause analysis using skills and knowledge of site personnel.
(Wt 15%) 2. Maintain contact with the ongoing maintenance department
Daily activities and provide technical guidance for resolution of day to day equipment reliability problems.
(Wt 15%) 3. Maintain regular communication with Production area
Process, Control Engineers and operators to keep abreast of production operational problems and offer commercial alternatives for solutions.
(Wt 15%) 4. Develop technical skills related to position
responsibilities including new predictive maintenance techniques and good industry maintenance practices. Keep site management informed on PD and PM practices that offer potential benefits.
(Wt 5%) 5. Prepare periodic reports on reliability performance using industry or business metrics. Analyze report data to measure site progress and potential areas of improvement.
(Wt 20%) 6. Manage small site projects, including new equipment
installations and retrofits.
(Wt 10%) 7. Manage special assignments including site technical
Specifications, procedure development and other projects as assigned by Maintenance Manager.
