Client Information

Our client develops specialized investments, such as leveraged benchmark mutual funds. They manage $16 billion+ in assets and have 80+ mutual funds and exchange traded products. Their environment is high availability, public presence for financial media, market drive, and fast paced. Many of their financial products can be bought in the morning and sold by the afternoon. They run a flat organization so they expect people to do what they are able to do rather than to draw tight boundaries. They have matrixed teams. All of the IT reports to one of four directors regardless if their skill set is application lifecycle or network infrastructure. They have 300+ employees at the Rockville, MD site. Our client recently merged with another company.


Duties

Our client is looking for a QA Tester to work on the (1) integration of applications and (2) upgrade of Biztalk 2002 to latest version. Find defects. Write test cases. Use SQL skills to validate data. They do their development in .Net / C#. .Net Library. They use rails on the web. They move the web to Sharepoint. Validate data and files. They may hire up to 12 people on contract the next 12 months between QA Testers and Developers. Mostly manual testing, but there will be some performance testing and if time permits we would like to automate as much as possible. They use Rational Robot and Test Manager for our scripting and play back, they also use Clearquest as our defect tracking tool. Most of the testing is functional and backend testing, although they try and performance test all of our applications if possible, and depending on the project regression and integration testing will also be involved.

Qualifications

(1) SQL – Backend, queries, script writing, testing, validating data.
(2) Experience with Rational tools – Or similar experience such as Mercury.
(3) Financial Industry Experience.
(4) Agile.
(5) Excellent Communication Skills – Oral & Written.
(6) Self Starter – Minimum Supervision, they will review their test cases.
(7) Biztalk.
(8) 5 Years Experience, but if they have fewer and are good, they will consider them.
