We are looking for an experienced full-time J2EE software engineer for an ongoing telecommuting contract.
Work with analysts, researchers, developers, and QA analyst to understand technical and functional requirements. Responsible for the design, development, and integration of new external interfaces and report development for an existing Oracle-based decision support system. Projects to include development of a web-based data collection (e.g., survey) instrument. Much of the work will involve the development of prototype applications to facilitate closure on design issues. Provide support on assigned applications including software maintenance, bug fixes, enhancements, and modifications. Participate in requirements and design reviews. Generate and maintain detailed requirements and design documentation. Develop and manage code changes according to customer standards. Period of performance is for six months with the possibility of further extension.
Skills and Abilities
- BS or BA in Computer Science or related field
- At least 5 years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in J2EE enterprise application development
- Experience with web-based technologies including XML, XSL, JDBC, Java Servlets, HTML and UML
- Experience using AXIS, Struts, Spring, Ibatis and JDOM frameworks
- Experience with SQL, PL/SQL will be a plus.
- Experience designing HTML based reports and web-based data collection instruments a plus
- Oracle 10g Internet Application Server on Unix (Solaris preferred)
- Strong problem analysis/resolution skills
- Experience in designing and implementing large server software with particular attention to security, scalability, and high performance
- Ability to translate complex business logic algorithms into code
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function as a team player
- Candidate should have the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with the development team and external technical points of contact
- Knowledge of PKI implementation is helpful
- Top Secret clearance desirable and ability to obtain one is a must.
