SUMMARY:
Manufacturing Manager needed for an industry leading solar company. This company is building solar power plants in large farms of concentrated solar dishes. These dishes convert sunlight to energy by concentrating the sunlight onto a stirling engine. This manufacturing manager will be focused on the cold parts of these engines.
PURPOSE:
The Manufacturing Manager of Engine Cold Parts will be fully supportive of the preliminary and concept design of a stirling engine (main parts consisting of engine block, cranks, pistons, conrods, crossheads, end covers and bed plate). The role is the key interface between the cold parts suppliers and the cold parts design team and as such the person must be a strong communicator capable of managing an extended team.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
-Create and implement, in line with standard procedures, part quality targets and KPI’s to ensure capability for prototype and production components.
-Effectively manage all aspects of prototype, LRIP (Low Rate Initial Production) and full production component manufacture, delivery and assembly.
-Create, implement, verify and continually improve procedures and systems for the effective and efficient control of QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery)
-Responsible for ensuring correct quality control and quality assurance systems are in place in line with company Quality procedures and processes
-Creation, escalation and closure of any quality issues and corrective action reports relating to cold parts
-Manage the design, creation and optimization of the cold parts manufacturing process including standard work instructions, procedures, methods and tools.
-Develop and implement appropriate 6 sigma methodologies to deliver a right size world class process for QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) achievement in line with company requirements and standards
-Educate and mentor key suppliers/subcontractors to ensure compliance with the organisations requirements.
-Access, select and scorecard suppliers and subcontractors based on their performance and impact on the organisation.
-Develop and implement an Internal Audit system to ensure that all design and manufacturing processes affecting product and service quality focus on compliance
-Implement and manage the daily, weekly and monthly reporting structure to ensure all stakeholders are fully aware of progress, issues and other items presenting risk to the programme
-Work effectively within the prescribed time, cost and other resource constraints.
-Contribute positively within a fast changing and flexible team based culture.
KPIs
-Forward planning and dissemination of MRD’s (Material Required Dates) to achieve all cold part components available for identified prototype and production builds
-On time delivery
-Sigma/capability of cold parts manufacture to meet company requirements
-Sigma/capability of cold parts assembly to meet company requirements
-Working with Supply Chain Manager to ensure achievement of cold parts tooling and part cost targets
-Cost down achievement
-Value added / non value added ratio of cold parts
-Production equipment OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) to exceed company targets
-Capital spend for prototype and production equipment, jigs, fixtures and tooling versus budget
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
-Minimum Bachelors in Engineering or Manufacturing Degree or equivalent
-Minimum 5 years experience in a Manufacturing role in automotive/engine or medium/high volume manufacturing particularly in cast/machined components in steel, iron and aluminium
-Previously experienced in new production and assembly line design, creation and validation
-Previous proven experience in six sigma methodologies practical application
-Good working knowledge of tools such as APQP;PPAP;SPC;FMEA;8D
