The Jr. Software Engineer will develop software that controls a solar dish power generation system. The Jr. Software Engineer will develop system software that controls a parabolic dish concentrator and a power conversion unit (PCU) at the heart of which is a Stirling-cycle engine. The Jr. Software Engineer will help to develop the communications, data encryption, data-handling, and trend analysis tools for a field level SCADA that must coordinate the operation of 20,000-50,000 units. The control system is designed for automatic operations for start-up, shut-down, and normal operation while monitoring, controlling, and tracking errors in the system that are reported to a field-level SCADA.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
1.Bachelor of Science Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field
2.1-3 years of applicable experience
3.Product development skills for machinery control software systems
4.Experience with embedded control systems
5.Embedded control system software development
Wishlist Qualifications:
1.Experience with data encryption, network security, and data compression algorithms
2.Trend analysis and data mining algorithms
3.Experience with communications protocols, such as CAN or TCP-IP
4.Experience with product development
5.DC motor controls
6.Communication system design and component selection
Typical First Projects:
1)Develop the software modules for the communications software layer, security, and data compression for communications between the solar dish and the field SCADA.
2)Incorporate secure communications protocols between solar dishes and the plant SCADA system.
3)Develop software modules incorporating filter and algorithm designs that control PCU and solar dish operations.
