A leading and nationally recognized engineering consulting firm is seeking a Plumbing Designer for their Phoenix, AZ office location.
Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the experienced Plumbing Designer is to perform non-routine and complex building mechanical drafting assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques.
The selected candidate will:
Work independently with occasional advice from supervisor and may direct efforts of less experienced CAD Technicians
Have experience in mechanical drafting of all phases of the construction documents, mechanical drawings on CAD from engineering sketches and instruction.
Have knowledge of procedures for production of design developments and construction documents, a thorough knowledge of engineering planning, drafting, and detailing.
Requires field observation of mechanical systems.
Three most important duties:
1. Communication skills for client and team interface under mentorship of Section Lead and Project Engineers.
2. Design and CADD draft plumbing and medical gas systems for complicated healthcare, science and technology projects.
3. Coordination and integration of plumbing and medical gas systems with civil, architectural, structural, electrical, and controls disciplines.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or applicable experience in mechanical drafting
5+years experience in the field of HVAC or plumbing design of buildings.
AutoCAD required. AutoCADMEP and Microstation desirable. Must be able to learn both platforms.
Experience in commercial or institutional facilities. Healthcare, Science and Technology and/or Civic facilities experience preferred.
Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm preferred.
Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required.
