Data Modeler / Data Architect

Must be able to develop both in-house and client software systems. This position would provide data modeling and data architecture services for both in-house and client development with a strong focus on client systems.
Essential Functions:
Work with identified users to define data requirements. Work with other team members to design a data architecture that will support the customer’s requirements.
Define metadata definitions for databases (operational source systems, data stores and data marts). Develop logical and physical data models that document source data from multiple sources. Develop mapping spreadsheets that will map source data to target data models, inclusive of logical names, physical names, data types, volumetric data, domain definitions, and corporate meta-data definitions.
Develop data models to meet the needs of the client organization's information systems. Maintain data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy. Stay informed of the ways the client organization uses its data.
Candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Provide technical input to overall data architecture
- Provide oversight and approvals of Data Model
- Responsible for all tasks associated with the design, implementation and maintenance of conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Designs, models, documents, and guides the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for complex applications
- Provide assistance in the mapping data from the source to target destinations
- Participate in the gathering of requirements that relate to data models
- Provide light database administration services for the development teams (eg. DBMS installation, tuning, setting up databases)
Technical skills and abilities:
- Experience working in a multiple team environment. Must be a team-player and be able to work closely with technical teams
- Ability to work effectively on multiple priorities with strict deliverable dates
- Excellent communication ability
- Knowledge of database full life cycle design and application development
- Experience with data modeling CASE tools
- Knowledge of relational database architectures
- Experience working with relational or multi-dimensional data in reporting or analytic infrastructures
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Extensive knowledge of SQL and understanding of at least one major DBMS (DB2, Oracle or SQL/Server). Knowledge and experience with more than one DBMS is preferred
- Experience with XML, including schema definitions and transformations
Position Requirements
At least five years experience in data modeling.
Bachelors Degree in related discipline preferred.
This position will require the Candidate to obtain an administrative security clearance conducted by Social Security Administration.
