One of our clients a trusted leader in the metal cutting industry is looking for a UGNX3 Designer. Candidates MUST be proficient with UG NX3 and MUST have at least 5 years experience as a designer working with tooling. Specifically Cutting Tools.
The Designer has the responsibility to create designs for special tooling according to customer requirements. Main functions for the role include creating customer approval drawings by utilizing NX3, generating manufacturing drawings and models for special tools with necessary information for the “CNC” programmer, machine operator, and establishing and maintaining design standards. Candidate will also look for ways to streamline existing processes and modify procedures in order to develop synergies and cost savings for the organization.
Main Responsibilities Include:
-Analyze the application of special tools to be designed incorporating design features for achieving the best possible cutting performance.
-Design complex High Production Cutting Tools and Systems that are manufacturable using CAD and solid modeling
-Assist in managing large tooling programs
-Create drawings for programming and turning with the necessary detail and clear information to prevent delays.
-Evaluate tool for possible design flaws and for best possible manufacturing methods considering CNC programming, machine limitations, available tooling and any necessary fixturing needed to manufacture the product.
-Understand design requirements of the individual Special Product to guarantee best performance.
-Review existing part drawings, routings and processes to suggest changes and improvements in methods of design and manufacture to improve product cost and quality.
The Ideal candidate will possess a degree in mechanical engineering, design, and drafting with 5+ years experience in the cutting tool industry. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2004 or later. The candidate must be experienced with the use of NX3 and posses strong Microsoft Office skills. Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills are a must.
