Job Listing: Applications/Engineer SQL Server DBA

TEKsystems has a client in the Wilmington, De area with an immediate need for a Applications/Engineer SQL Server DBA at the Architect Level

Reason For the Need: Our client is in the midst of migrating databases from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008. The databases are located in multiple different remote locations.

Most Crucial Skill: The manager wants to bring in people who have experience doing a database migration over multiple locations, SQL Server 2008 is brand new so this experience should be migrating SQL Server 2000 to 2005. Replication of databases is also desired. The manager would prefer an application/engineer level DBA, but a production support DBA with this specific type of experience is acceptable.

Technical Skills

-Migration experience from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005
-Replication / log shipping experience
-Experience managing database across geographically separate locations
-Clustering and failover / EPP scenarios
-DW experience - large databases and multiple SQL instances (our total environment is 50TB+)
-Transactional / web experience preferred
-OLAP experience preferred (Essbase, Cognos, MSRS, SSAS) preferred

Interview Process: Phone screen ASAP with DBA manager and lead DBA, followed by a personal with both.


Other Details: This will go permanent approximately 6 months into the assignment.
