Our client, a large Electric distribution company located in central Florida, has an immediate opening for a qualified System Engineer with experience in Substation, Transmission and SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) Engineering with, emphasis on Design, Construction and Operation of Electrical Substation and Transmission Systems.
Primary Functions:
This position will assist in the Specification, Design, Operation/Maintenance Support of Substation and Transmission facilities. This position will also be responsible for SCADA and RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) operations, maintenance and upgrades, as well as the provision of Technical Support services for Distribution Automation, Telecommunications, Demand Side Management and other corporate communication and technical systems.
General Duties and Responsibilities:

Assisting in conducting studies and surveys to improve the Electrical system.
Assisting in the performance of Electrical system studies and making recommendations based on results, including but not limited to:

Recording, reviewing and analyzing system records
Making recommendations for system improvements and/or solutions to system problems

Evaluating SCADA, Substation, Transmission and Radio Outage conditions, and making recommendations for improvements.

SCADA Operations and Maintenance:
The System Engineer:

Is responsible for all operations and maintenance of the SCADA system.
Works with Relay Technicians to solve problems with points, alarms, RTUs and/or radios.
Ensures that SCADA system is running efficiently and that all software is up-to-date.
Works with Customer Service on SCADA hardware and/or software problems.
Maintains software and single line diagrams to improve User Interface.

Substation Design:
The System Engineer:

Designs and orders material for SCADA and Radio communications for all substation projects.
Creates AutoCAD drawings for all designs.
Creates and maintains accurate and up-to-date SCADA point assignment sheets for each substation.
Creates new single-line diagrams and points in SCADA for all projects.
Works with Relay Technicians to ensure that SCADA points in RTUs match the SCADA Master.

Required Skills


A minimum of two (2) years of Engineering experience relating to Electric Utility Substation and/or Transmission, or a minimum of two (2) years of SCADA Engineering and/or Operations, with emphasis on Design, Construction and Operation of Electrical Substation and Transmission Systems (PLEASE CLEARLY INDICATE YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THESE AREAS IN YOUR RESUME)
Experience with a rural Electric utility preferred
Familiarity with SCADA and Communication Systems desired
Knowledge of FAA/FCC Rules and Regulations for RF Communications preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or equivalent, i.e. eight (8) years of directly-related experience
A concentration in Electrical Power Engineering and/or Certification as Engineer-in-Training preferred

PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrated experience with:

Electronic and Electric Circuit Analysis, with knowledge of Project/Construction Management techniques and procedures
Substation and Switching Design, Relay and Symmetrical components, Station Inspection and SCADA, and/or

SCADA and Information System Configuration and Programming
Load Management System Design and Control requirements
Telecommunications and Control System Design and/or Fault Circuit Analysis System Sectionalizing Requirements and Equipment Application

Demonstrated knowledge in the operation of Personal Computers (PC) and Computer Operating Systems (OS), such as MS Office Suite, including Word, Access and Excel
AutoCAD and/or similar Computer-Aided Design program experience preferred
