Job Summary:
As a Safety Engineer, the essential functions are:
Making decisions and recommendations that:
Are recognized as authoritative.
Have an important impact on extensive Engineering activities.
Demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature Engineering judgment in:
Anticipating and solving complex Engineering problems.
Determining program objectives and requirements.
Developing standards and guides for diverse Engineering activities.
Being responsible for an important segment of the Engineering program with extensive and diversified Engineering requirements.
Independently conceiving, planning and conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity.
Being a recognized leader and authority in an area of specialization.
Conceiving and planning investigations of broad and important broad areas for which precedents are lacking in areas critical to the overall Engineering program.
Being consulted extensively, by associates and others, as a recognized authority within the field.
Maintaining a current and up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field and other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve the quality, economy, and effectiveness of the Company product.

This is an estimated 1+ year contract position, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in Atlanta, GA. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support most of the top rated IT companies in the Southeast.
Required Skills
Required Skills for this System Safety Engineer position include the following:
Ten (10) years of Engineering experience in the specific technical discipline, or minimum of fifteen (15) years Engineering experience with exceptional broad technical qualifications in several technical disciplines
Bachelor degree in Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of appropriate education experience
Advanced degree in Engineering, or related curriculum preferred
Unique Skills:
Applicant should be experienced at preparing SSAs, FHAs, and all other safety reports required to meet FAA requirements; should be able to derive hardware and software design assurance levels
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
