Job Listing: Solaris Senior System Administrator
A growing and expanding firm in the Video Technology field is seeking a Solaris Senior System Administrator for a possible Temp to Hire position.
Primary Functions:
The Solaris Senior System Administrator:
Performs Security Administration duties for user accounts and file systems; also creates directory structures and assigns permissions.
Fulfills daily tasks such as:
Management of error logs
Monitoring disk space usage and archival, as well as backup status
Implements system alerts to notify IT Management of system unavailability.
Performs DNS Administration, Backups and Web hosting.
Installs and maintains hardware in the Development NOC.
Partitions blade servers and deploys applications on servers.
Develops tools to link requirements to CM releases and defects entered in Bugzilla.
Evaluates and makes recommendations on hardware upgrades, capacity planning, and planning for future needs.
Leads and coordinates operational support and implementation activities for LAN and WAN service offerings.
Assists Leadership Management in determining tactical and strategic direction regarding operational support technologies, tools, and techniques.
Works with QA/test to ensure high-quality products.
Estimates work tasks to ensure delivery on agreed time scales.
Contributes to institutionalization of disciplines, process, and tools while adhering to the Development Process.
Performs tasks at the highest level of integrity.
This is an estimated 6-month position (with possibility of Direct Hire), through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in Winter Park, FL. Required Skills for this Solaris Senior System Administrator position include the following:
Recent solid knowledge of Solaris
Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience installing Sun hardware
Experience with Systems Connectivity and Networking
Migration experience
Experience with Enterprise Backup Systems/Storage solutions (e.g., SAN)
LDAP and Directory Service experience
Familiarity with Apache and Tomcat
Ability to write scripts and create tools
Knowledge of Video Technologies a plus
Ideally, will have 1-2 years of Commercial experience within Consumer Electronics, Telecom, and/or Aerospace Industries
