This Staff Digital Design Engineer is to assume a leadership role in the design and development of embedded systems for next generation wireless products with an emphasis on video compression, decompression, microprocessor and communications. The successful candidate shall be a self starter, a strong individual contributor, team player and an effective communicator.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in and drive all phases of hardware development life cycle for development projects
- Evaluate system requirements and present and defend recommended solutions
- Architect, design and implement video encoder and decoder systems
- Interface with other development groups to ensure overall project success
- Prepare and maintain documentation
- Estimate completion dates
Requirements:
- BSEE and minimum ten years of relevant experience in digital hardware design
- A proven track record of completing design projects from concept to production
- VHDL and Verilog language coding skills
- Ability to rapidly understand and effectively use code written by others
- Significant experience using advanced debugging techniques and tools, including JTAG, ICE, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
- Skilled in FPGA development design, simulation, synthesis and debugging
- Knowledge of PCB schematic design and layout
- Experience with broadcast Video, Audio and MPEG2 transport standards
- Knowledge of C language desired
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Perl,) desired
- Experience with MPEG2 codecs desired
- Knowledge of analog design and RF desired
