Job Listing: Microbiology Research Assistant

A pharmaceutical research lab in the West Los Angeles area has an immediate need for a Microbiology Research Assistant.

Job Duties:

* Participate in susceptibility testing of aerobes and anaerobes with investigational and other antimicrobial agents using the agar dilution method for anaerobic bacteria and broth microdilution for aerobic bacteria.
* Culture aerobic and anaerobic bacteria from clinical specimens (including fecal) from patients enrolled in clinical trials.
* Use methods including Gram stains, conventional tube tests, PRAS biochemicals, API 20E, RapID ANA, other kits, Wee tabs, performed enzyme disks to identify bacteria.
* Assist in evaluation of new test methods.
* Maintain quality control records. Maintain accurate records of all test procedures and the culture collection of bacteria.
* Prepare special culture media and reagents.

Qualifications:

* A.S. or B.S. Degree in Microbiology and 1-3 years of industry experience.
* General knowledge of laboratory procedures required for working in a micro laboratory (sterile techniques, disposal of hazardous materials, etc.).
* General knowledge of bacteriology.
* Use of lab equipment (microscope, microbalance, anerobic chamber, autoclave, and computer).

Additional Information:

* This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position. 1st shift, Mon-Fri (with some Saturday work). $20-$22/hr
