SENIOR WAN SYSTEMS ENGINEER
TEKsystems has partnered with a large government integrator supporting the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services group to build a team of Systems Engineers—WAN focused. The team will support the Technology Operations & Maintenance Infrastructure Support (TOMIS). Candidates chosen for this team will design and implement Wide Area Networks using switch, hub and router technology
TECHNOLOGY:
*CCNP certification, CCDA/CCDP/CCSP certification or comparable experience preferred.

*Network Associates Distributed Sniffer Agent and Client
*CA Certificate Server (PEEP, WPA, WPA/2)
*Operating Systems: Windows 2000, 2003 & 2007 server, Windows XP, Solaris, BlueCoat, Citrix Netscaler, Cisco Load Balancers, Packateer
*Routed Protocols: IP, IPX, SNA, VPN, NAT
*Routing Protocols: RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, HSRP and BGP4
*Switch Protocols: Spantree, Port Channel, ISL, MLS
*WAN Media: MPLS, Frame Relay, point to point, sonnet ring, dedicated IP, DS3, gigabit ethernet
GENERAL SUMMARY: Sr. Systems Engineer (WAN) will be responsible for:
1. Duties are performed under the supervision of a senior engineer or technical project manager. Assist in the design and implementation of WANs using switch, hub and router technology.
2. Perform hardware/software analysis to provide comparative data of performance characteristics and suitability within the existing systems environment, prepare trade-off studies and evaluations for vendor equipment.
3. Assist in generating network monitoring and performance reports for WAN utilization studies and recommend network design changes/enhancements for improved system availability and performance.
4. Design, plan, analyze, deploy and support all aspects of the network infrastructure in accordance with corporate standards, policies and procedures.
5. Support, monitor, administer and maintain the LAN/WAN to ensure high availability, scalability, redundancy, performance, security and manageability.
6. Understand and be able to direct field teams to install, configure and maintain network routers, multi-layer switches and access points.
7. Establish and maintain network guidelines and procedures for router and switch configuration, as well as, standards for network equipment and procedures for deployment.
8. Design, implement and support existing and new MPLS, IP, frame relay, DSL and wireless network infrastructures.
9. Configure, implement and support wireless LANs including WLAN controllers, access points and certificate servers.
10. Maintain and troubleshoot WAN optimization, proxy, content caching, load balancer and compression devices.
11. Perform design and implementation reviews to ensure performance, security and availability requirements are being met.
12. Interacts with different lines of business to collect and document business requirements for infrastructure related projects. Analyzes options, recommends design solutions and conduct comparative analysis.
13. Plan and design network infrastructure configuration specifications for new and existing sites; troubleshoot application and network performance issues.
14. Maintain access lists, NAT tables, carrier circuit numbers and router/switch configuration files; proactively monitor and manage network health and performance using various monitoring/diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques.
15. Perform network maintenance and upgrades as required.
16. Must be able to provide 24 hr LAN/WAN coverage on scheduled nights and weekends.
17. Understanding of SOX, PCI and PII impact on network infrastructure design and support
Min of 7 yrs exp. in supporting global LAN/WAN Cisco environment.
18. Detailed knowledge and experience with TCP/IP, Router technology, and LAN/WAN performance tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting.
