Responsibilities:
Short term position to augment existing engineering staff during critical period. Administers and maintains all production and other mission critical technology resources in the DCI Unix Environment to include the following:
Perform duties as assigned.
Provide server administrative support for all Unix and Linux based supported servers in the Online environment with agreed upon availability and performance criteria.
Develop, organize, and maintain required server related documentation.
Monitor all servers' performance and network connectivity and troubleshoot any issues to maximize server uptime.
Proactively monitor and resolve assigned customer trouble tickets, including resolving tickets within appropriate time frame and escalating tickets as needed.
Respond to calls for service, Remedy trouble tickets, or customer requests in a manner that conveys enthusiasm and concern for customer requirements.
Monitors and tunes the server environment to ensure availability and reliability.
Evaluates, installs, tests, configures, maintains, monitors performance and troubleshoots server software. Implements systems patches and updates as needed.
Requirements:
Five to Seven years experience as a systems engineer.
Must be a self-starter, and able to take direction.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Clear and concise communication is critical.
Must be proficient in: Solaris 8, Linux (RHES 4 & 5), Apache 2.0, scripting (ksh, Perl, Python, bash, etc), OpsWare, VMWare, NFS
Knowledge of (helpful): WebSphere, Akamai, BigIP F5 load balancers, Nagios, Network Appliance, Remedy, HP OpenView
